Conscience sleep inside a seed;
What kind of flower would bloom from it?
Innocence in form of egoistical being,
The beauty of not knowing the pain of others.

But then how are we to judge?
After all, it's hard to distinguish between good and evil.

Alright, I must be crazy to join this contest where so many great artists submitted their wonderful works.
But then like those artists, I feel inspired from the simple theme of Good and Evil, which has always been an issue.
And it's been some time since I last expressed my point of view as an artist in form of illustration, so I was pretty excited (and worried since the idea came to me two days before the deadline).
I realize my view of Good and Evil, and my color code is pretty different from most submissions...but well...can't blame my vision...


When talking about good and evil, we're talking about conscience
—and how we grasp that conscience affects us as we grow into an adult.
How many psychologists analyzed criminals
and came into a conclusion that it has something to do with their childhood?
Thus, I think childhood is the source of all good and evils.
It's like a seed of a flower, and how the environment around it affects the outcome; whether it'll bloom to be something good/innocent, or something evil.


The child in this picture is the seed; the lotus represents innocence;
the sky defines environment; and the water reflects changes.
A child in a process of growing up, wandering around to build up his conscience and personality.
He doesn't understand yet, that on the process of walking, he's stepping on the plants—thus hurting/killing them.
He may, or may not understand about that in the future. But evil already lurks somewhere inside the "seed".
And it's always his choice on deciding what kind the "flower" will bloom in the end.



Light and shadow are very tricky; a person can look different in the daytime and nighttime.
And sometimes when the sun casts a shadow on a person, it gives off an eerie aura—which I wanted to express in this picture.
My first time trying on water effects—which I fail miserably but, oh well.
